How long should I wear my retainers for?
Q. My ortho told me to wear them day and night for a year, and then just wear them at night, but I really don't want to wear them during the day, would it be ok after 6 months to start wearing them only at night? It is almost 6 months since I have been wearing them, and I am planning to just wear them at night, but i'm afraid my teeth will move. How long did you wear them, when did you switch over to just wearing them at night, when is it safe to stop wearing them during the day?

How to wear coverup/foundation without getting breakouts?
Q. I don't wear foundation (liquid or powder) on a regular basis. I have a cover-up stick which i usually only use when i really need too. I'm planning on starting to wear foundation soon, but whenever i wear cover-up or makeup like that i get pimples and breakout. I wash my face and use acne medicine twice a day, what can i do to prevent getting a ton of pimples or constantly having breakouts when i wear foundation or cover-up?

A. Use skinclearing makeup from neutrogena. theres liquid foundation, powder, and conceler. I use it and i dont feel like it makes me break out. it can even help you stop breakout because it has salicylic acid which is an ingredent in lots of acne medictions.

What outfit should I wear for veterinary receptionist job interview?
Q. The job entails wearing scrubs on a daily basis, so obviously I won't wear scrubs to an interview, but what should I wear? I have been told that a black blazer and black pants with a collared shirt would fit any job interview but I sort of think that its too corporate for this type of job position, am I wrong? Should I go with the Black/White/Black look? What should I wear? Are wearing colors bad? Do I have to wear the blazer jacket?

Is it really necessary to wear a retainer anymore after wearing one for years?
Q. I really am so sick and tired of wearing that damn thing. I have been wearing it all the time for awhile, then every night, then once a week, now it is about every other week at most. I have been loyally wearing it for years. I can't fall asleep when i try to wear it at night, and I have fears that it might even be causing damage to my gums. Haven't I come to the point where I don't really need to wear it anymore??

A. Yes, it is very well necessary to still wear it, retainers are meant to keep your teeth in alignment for the rest of your life and you keep it if for the rest of your life. But as others have said, you can get a permanent retainer. It's called a "Fixed Retainer." A fixed retainer typically consists of a passive wire bonded to the tongue-side of the lower incisors (lower incisors are the 4 bottom front teeth). Although i recommend you do not get a fixed retainer, fixed retainers are usually the source of tartar build-up, due to the placement and difficulty with flossing, tartar build-up can occur, and could lead to severe gingivitis, depending on how well you keep your dental hygiene. Even with a fixed retainer, you still may need a… [cont.]

What to wear to a Brown University interview?
Q. My brother has an interview tomorrow morning for Brown University and we don't know what he should wear. Some websites say for ivy league colleges, wear a suit & tie & dress pants, and some say to wear polos and khakis. We're so torn on what he should wear. Does anybody here interview Brown students? Brown alumni? Recently interviewed students? Please help!
Asked by j s . - Fri Nov 27 19:59:16 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When in doubt about dress, always go with the more formal choice. Even if a majority of interviewees are dressing too casually, your brother is better off dressing more formally. He does not need to wear a suit with matching jacket and trousers. He can wear a sport jacket and tie and dress slacks. He should wear a long-sleeved dress shirt, not a polo shirt. His shoes should be shined leather. The color of his belt should match the shoes.

What kind of shoes do girls wear to raves?
Q. My boyfriend is taking me to one that stretches all the way to 8AM. I don't want to wear heels. I will wear a long deep v tank top thing that covers my butt and I will wear white shorts underneath so it won't look like I am wearing shorts, lol. =X So, originally I was planning on wearing white stilettos to match my shorts if it would be shown, but I decided not to since it will be so long. So what should I wear as shoes?

What to wear to a very casual outdoor wedding?
Q. I'm going to a wedding this Saturday afternoon. It's outdoors and very casual (think men in cowboy hats and boots). I have a periwinkle, high-waisted, flared skirt I'd like to wear, but I'm not sure what to wear with it. It looks cute with a white button-up shirt, but I don't think that's appropriate. Also, the wedding is in the late afternoon and it will likely get cold, so I'll need a cover-up of some sort. I'm planning on wearing flats; not sure what color. Any idea?

A. You're on the right track! It will be OK to wear a white button-up shirt with a colored skirt. That outfit won't upstage the bride, especially in summer weather. The shirt should protect you from sunburn to some extent, but you'd do well to apply sunscreen also. You're right about being prepared for chilly weather as the sun goes down. A nice sweater, or a blazer-type jacket, would be appropriate. You could fold up a head scarf and carry it along with gloves in your handbag, in case you need extra warmth. Flat shoes are just right. It doesn't matter too much what color they are. The ground outdoors will be soft, and heels would sink right in. At the last outdoor wedding we attended, the back legs of the folding chairs sank into… [cont.]

What is appropriate to wear during a wedding appointment?
Q. I own a full time DJ company based out of NJ. My question is i normally wear nice dark jeans, black shoes and a button down shirt when i sit with Brides during there initial consultation. I was talking to a few people who said that it might be more professional if i wore dress pants, and a dress shirt tucked in with a tie. I need some opinions on what i should start wearing. I don't want people to feel that i am a car salesman, so that's it why i always wore jeans and a button down. More of a trendy look.

A. If you want to be taken seriously as a professional, you must dress like a professional. Honestly, it sounds like what you're wearing is fine, as long as the jeans look new, the shoes are nice, and you add a watch. You might put a sports coat over it sometimes. However, with some brides, you'll want to dress up more. For example, if you've got a bride having a 300 guest $75,000 budget wedding, you should be well-groomed and dress VERY nice. Families spending a lot of money expect a high level of service. However, if you're meeting with a more low-key couple having a $10,000 wedding on their family ranch, jeans and a nice shirt is totally appropriate. When in doubt, wear all black.

How to wear your hair with a collard shirt?
Q. I am going to church and i have a very nice sleeveless top I am planning to wear. The shirt has a collar as well. But I don't know what kind of hairstyle to wear. I was figuring since it was a collard shirt i would wear my hair in an up-do but wasn't sure?? My hair is also thick and curly, Should i straighten it? But then again everyone thinks it looks better naturally. You know, curly. Please help and thank you.

A. I would say leave it down. If your hair is frizzy kind of curly (like mine) than put some sort or hair gel or style in it to make it not so frizzy =)

What causes a brake pad to wear unevenly?
Q. I have already seen people ask about uneven brake pad wear but my pads are wearing at a slant. My passenger side brake pads are both wearing at an angle. One left side of a single brake pad is more worn then the right side. Also the inner brake pad is worn more then the outer brake pads. What do i need to replace?
Asked by anon - Sun May 9 14:15:23 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If your calipers have two pistons and one is hanging up slightly it could cause uneven wear and the calipers would need replaced. Also if the rotor isn't in the best condition the leading edge of the pad would wear down more.

How to wear my hair up for office holiday party?
Q. The party is tonight and it's semi-formal. I am wearing a black cocktail dress and my hair is about shoulder-length (just touches my shoulders). I normally straighten my hair and wear it down, but I think it may look better worn up. I don't know how to style a nice updo, without it looking like the usual messy bun or average throw in a clip. Any styles that you can think of that I myself could do? I need something that is not going to take too long. Thanks.

A. well the polka dot dress sounds nice, but i personally dont think it would be dressy enough for a homecoming dance. you should wear something out of nice material, but not something as fancy as a prom dress. if you go to some department stores, they will probably have some on display and you can get some ideas from that. oh, and good call on not wanting to wear the band uniform...i dont think its a good idea at all. lol. by the way, good luck impressing that cutie! ;-)

A. A baby with a bikini is cute. But like a 5 year old and 10 yr old is weird, I mean they don't really have any point in wearing one. But as kids no one really cares about how your bathing suit looks, plus when your an adult and have kids, your stomach is never the same so its fun to show it off before, I personally don't see a point but I understand why people wear one

A. Black suit with a gray or darker shirt, maybe with a bit of color. If it's a formal homecoming, you really should wear the coat at least, if you're not going to wear the tie. Oh, and as for shoes, there's a reason dress shoes go with suits. Sneakers and suits just don't mix; you really should stick with the shiny black dress shoes. The best kind? If you're worried about comfort, Cole Haans are probably the most comfortable dress shoes I've found so far that don't have sky-high pricetags. Odds are you'll want to stick with your dress shoes. That is, no basketball sneakers, skate shoes, or anything else that has really thick construction. Dress shoes are thin. Anything thicker than, say, half a cm will almost never work. And they should be… [cont.]

What color necktie should i wear if my homecoming date is wearing a pink dress?
Q. I don't want to wear a pink tie, because i would never wear it. I am wearing a white shirt and khaki pants. I could wear a different shirt and maybe black pants, what are some good combos?

What do women think of men that wear sweatpants and basketball shorts?
Q. I always wear sweatpants and basketball shorts and I was wondering what women think of men that wear this. It's mostly around campus and when going shopping. I don't wear them when I'm going out or anything. Usually I wear the Adidas sandals (with socks) with them or tennis shoes and my shirts are usually nice (Polos). (I know weird style) I wear what's comfortable.

What do I wear to a Sarcoma Foundation fundraiser Orchestra Holiday Concert?
Q. My best friend has Osteosarcoma, and tonight her orchestra is putting on a concert to raise money for the Sarcoma Foundation of America, because that was my friend's Christmas wish. What should I wear tonight? I know the orchestra is wearing dressed for girls, and slacks/nice shirts for guys. I am selling raffle tickets, what should I be wearing? So far I've been thinking nice black pants, black ballet flats, and a nice red sweater. What do you think?

A. I think your suggested outfit sounds very appropriate - you don't want to outshine the performers. The ribbon for sarcoma is yellow, so if you have one to wear it will show up well on the red.

What shoes should a guy wear with Abercrombie and Fitch in the winter?
Q. I am a guy and I own a lot of A&F clothing and in the warmer weather I wear flip flops. When its cooler I wear Converse Chuck Taylor's, but I am unsure about what shoes to wear when there is snow on the ground. Chucks are not insulated enough and my feet freeze. So I need to know what shoes to wear that would still keep the A&F style. Please help. Any advice is thankfully appreciated.

A. If you're talking about keeping with the A&F style then the only things we're allowed to wear are Chucks and Flip flops. But there are other things that look good with A&F, like pumas. One guy at my job wore a pair of pumas and they looked good (although he got in trouble)
